President's Message by Don LenegarThis month's topic is "Unusual Occasional Invaders" with Jack Horsley. Dr. Jack is a wealth of information to our association and we are fortunate to have him share his knowledge and experience with us. His help over the years has opened doors and shown the true meaning of association: that we are all in this together. It is hard to believe September is coming up fast! It's that time of the year when our State and National Associations have several great courses to attend so this year we, are raffling a $200.00 voucher to Pest Fest for just$10.00 (the drawing will be held at this month's general meeting!) Also, don't forget that there are only fifty tickets left for the drawing with VPMA! There are different levels of prizes and the grand prize is $3000.00!! Contact TPCA for details.
For the past few meeting announcements, I have asked your TPCA Board members to share their thoughts on our association. I am very grateful to have such a high caliber of Board members such as Don Goff. Don has done an outstanding job putting together the Termidor workshop, the Ronald McDonald and School supply drives, as well as many other TPCA events. TPCA has truly moved to a different level in facilitating communication among our members as well as raising a belief in what we are all about and that is helping each other grow together in business as well as friendships with our families as we set the path for our next generation. Don Goff Director/Ways and Means Kiawah Island Golf Resort is home to an array of wildlife and national parks and was host of this year's mid-Atlantic summer conference. The conference was August 5th through 7th. Educational sessions addressed new products, termite and general insect control research results, oddball pest scenarios, ants in the mid -Atlantic, dealing with "invisible" pests: when your customer is infested, and how new federal regulations can impact your business. Education was followed by fun in the sun! Activities included the beach, pool, kayaking, bicycling, nature walks, tennis, charity golf tournament and a Charleston Tea Plantation and Wine tour. The conference ended with a Low country Barbecue on the water at sunset. Tasty local oysters, Creole' stew, and Carolina barbecue were some of the favorites on the buffet. The night ended with dancing under the stars with a local band.
